June Pet of the Month - Kimchi

Kimchi lying in a pile of towels!      Kimchi is an adorable 16-year-old tortoiseshell kitty. She was found in an alley as a kitten, but you’d never know it by her spirited personality. She grew up zooming through rooms, digging in crinkly paper, and chasing toys like a tiny tornado. As the years passed, however, Kimchi began to slow down. Her family noticed that the once-energetic kitty was sleeping more, playing less, and struggling with things that used to be effortless. Arthritis had crept in, quietly stealing away some of her spark. Her vet recommended Solensia, a once-monthly injection for cats with arthritis.

Solensia works by targeting nerve growth factor (NGF), a protein that plays a key role in sending pain signals. By blocking NGF, Solensia helps reduce pain and improve mobility without the need for daily meds. Since starting Solensia, Kimchi has rediscovered her kitten-like spirit. She's once again batting at toys, digging into piles of paper with glee, and zooming around like she used to. Her naps are still sacred, of course—but now they come after a good play session, not from discomfort.

Kimchi’s story is a beautiful reminder that age doesn’t have to mean giving up the things we love. With the right support, senior cats can stay active, joyful, and full of life. If your feline friend seems to be slowing down, talk to your vet—Solensia might be the key to getting them back to being their true playful self.
