Rock Bridge Animal Hospital

Take a virtual step into our hospital to see where it all happens...

Reception Area

Reception Area - Rock Bridge Animal HospitalUpon arrival there will always be a friendly face to greet you and your companion.  Typically you won't spend much time here, but we do have many basic pet supplies, food and toys available for purchase.

One of the favorite areas is the "kids corner'"  We go through lots of crayons and color pages.

And naturally there's plenty of dog "cookies"

Examination Rooms
Cat Exam Room - Rock Bridge Animal Hospital
We have two rooms available for examinations and consultations.  One is decorated "Kitty Style" where we provide you Rock Bridge Animal Hospital Exam Room with brochures on how to keep your kitties healthy.  And naturally we have some kitty snacks so that we can spoil them while they are here.  We also use this room for our other small critters, such as ferrets, rabbits, and rodents.  We will let a pooch in, on occasion

The second room has more of a "Doggie Decor" and is well stocked with dog goodies.  Oftentimes we find our patients sitting in front of the cookie jar eagerly waiting for their snack.  We have healthy maintenance products on our display shelves and lots of informational brochures.

Lab & Pharmacy Area
Rock Bridge Animal Hospital Lab

Just outside our examination rooms is where we perform all of our in house testing.  The machine to the left allows us to run blood samples prior to surgery or in cases of emergency so that we can evaluate your pets liver and kidney values right away or screen for diabetes.  We have a centrifuge in the center for processing all of our samples.  The microscope is probably our most used instrument.  We examine fecal and urine specimens, as well as skin and ear cytology samples under the microscope.  This allows us to make more informed decisions regarding your pets care.

Treatment Area

Treatment Area - Rock Bridge Animal HospitalThis is where we provide treatment to all of our sick patients.  This room is also used for preparing patients for surgery or for performing our periodontal therapies.  To the right we have an autoclave for sterilizing our instruments and cabinets stocked full of supplies.  On the left you can see us performing a periodontal therapy.  We have a fluid pump running to an intravenous catheter in our patient's leg providing them with fluids to maintain their hydration and blood pressure.  There is also a heated warming blanket on top of the patient keeping him warm.   Treatment Room - Rock Bridge Animal Hospital
You may recognize the other equipment from your own dentist's office.  We have a dental X-ray unit mounted on the wall for easy use and the X-rays are downloaded directly into the computer.  This means no extra anesthesia time for your pet while waiting for an X-ray to be developed.  We have a top of the line dental scaler for cleaning your pet's teeth as well as high speed handpieces to be used for extractions and other dental procedures.  Using these instruments means more efficient oral surgery for your pet and less pain in the long run.

There is always a technician present to monitor your pets vital signs.  We treat your pets as we would our own and take the precautions necessary to ensure their safety.

Surgery

Surgery - Rock Bridge Animal Hospital
This is where we perform all of our sterile surgeries.  Our surgery suite is in a separate room away from other areas of the hospital.  Dr. Forbes wears a sterile surgical gown and gloves for the procedures and everyone in the room wears a cap and mask to help prevent the spread of germs.  Our surgery lights are equpped with special handles that can be autoclaved so that the surgeon can move the lights if needed.

The patient is laying across a heated blanket for warmth and is covered with a surgical drape.  He is receiving intravenous fluids through a catheter and is constantly monitored by the assistant.  The table can be adjusted so that the patient is in the proper position for surgery.

Kennel Area
Rock Bridge Animal Hospital Kennel
This is everyone's favorite area of the hospital, our "Pet Hotel".  We have large runs available for our bigger dogs and smaller suites for the littler ones.  All of our tenants are provided with fresh food, water and bedding daily.  We feed Science Diet food unless you would prefer to bring their own diet.  They listen to the radio during the daytime hours - although they have to bargain with the attendant for the day on which station they get to listen to.  The Rock Bridge Animal Hospital Cat Kenneldogs go outside three times a day to stretch their legs and to take care of their bathroom needs.  The cat's tend to prefer some extra petting instead.  Sometimes you might find a staff member (or two) hiding out here coddling your pets.

Our pet motel is cleaned and sanitized daily.  It is also temperature controlled.  We do welcome visitors should you want to see where your pet would be staying.
