Dr. Wendy Forbes:

Dr. Forbes was born and raised in Champion, Ohio.  After graduation she attended Denison University where she received her B.S. in Biology.  It was during this time that she developed her ties to Missouri.  Little did she know that when she participated in an externship program with Dr. Kenneth Vroman in Fayette, MO, that she would meet her husband Travis.  They were later married in the Shelter Gardens here in Columbia.

Dr. Forbes attended veterinary school at The Ohio State University where she graduated in 1999.  Following graduation she elected to complete a one year internship in small animal medicine and surgery in Tucson, AZ.  She feels that this time spent with specialists was invaluable in her development as a quality veterinarian.

Dr. Forbes and her husband spent a few years in Springfield, MO before deciding to move closer to his hometown of Glasgow.  They share their house with their two dogs Chaos and Dobbie, their always hungry cat Cartman, Max the mischievous cat, and Niblet the Chinchilla.

Dr. Forbes' medical interests include preventative medicine, senior wellness, surgery, and animal behavior.  When she is not here with the animals she enjoys working outside in her flower beds, hiking with her dogs, and riding 4 wheelers with her husband through the trails.

Dr. Susan Sappington:

Dr. Sappington grew up just an hour down the road in Hermann, Missouri.  She graduated from Truman State University in Kirksville with a BS in Biology.   She married her high school sweetheart, Bryan, that summer just before heading off to veterinary school at the University of Missouri.  Upon graduation she joined a private practice just outside Kansas City working with cats, dogs, and exotic pets.  There she enjoyed excellent mentorship emphasizing quality medicine for a variety of species.

Dr. Sappington loved living in Columbia and everything the city has to offer, so she and her husband decided to move back with their two cats, Cleopatra and Helen of Troy.  She is excited to continue practicing quality medicine with Dr. Forbes and the excellent team at Rock Bridge Animal Hospital.

Dr. Sappington enjoys the challenges of bringing sick patients back to health, but also emphasizes good preventative medicine to help keep them healthy!

The "A" Team!

We have an excellent team at Rock Bridge Animal Hospital.  Not only are they intelligent, hard-working individuals, but they are very  compassionate and dedicated to the care of you and your pets.  Each staff member goes through an intense training course when they join the team so that they are aware of the common health care issues our pets face.  This education continues during our weekly meetings where we discuss various health topics, invite guest lecturers to speak, and practice techniques to improve patient care.  (They get tested too  ).  To keep the hospital current, they attend local seminars as well as larger veterinary meetings, such as the Central Veterinary Conference in Kansas City, MO.
